I have almost 20 years working as a speech therapist in the private sector with the majority of my clients being on the autistic spectrum. I continue to work with ABA providers on  both school and home programmes.

 

I continue to offer support to this client group with a focus on development of their oro motor skills and provide parent and tutor coaching to enable them to deliver the programme of activities effectively for each  individual young person using principles of Talk Tools and PROMPT.

 

Many autistic children struggle with the planning for speech and limited awareness of their oral structure and how it needs to work to produce speech sounds. Using specific tools and activities supports development of these skills without requiring them to understand and follow complex instructions, enabling the processes to be transitioned into functional speech sounds.
